The school SENCO is Mrs Gemma Clarke.
Westwood Academy values every individual and enables every child to achieve their potential. The school aims to provide every child with the knowledge and skills necessary for access to the curriculum, as a secure foundation for future learning and in order that individuals may play a full part in society.
There will always be children with special educational needs or disabilities difficulties, whose needs (whether intellectual, physical or emotional) mean that they may need extra help in acquiring this basic foundation and may need support in order to benefit from the whole curriculum. This support may be temporary or may need to continue throughout the child’s time at the school.
We aim to encourage the self-esteem of every child, since a positive attitude will facilitate all learning.
