We are beginning this term with the topic ‘London’s Burning’. Here are some optional homework tasks for this topic, I have listed a few so that you can select the one you are most interested in doing. As you complete the task bring it into school to be displayed.
- Create a picture of The Great Fire of London.
- Make bread just like Thomas Farriner on Pudding Lane.
- Make a model of a house from that timeframe.
- Write a diary about what it would have been like if you were there.
We will move onto the topic ‘Oh I do like to be beside the seaside’ next half term. In phonics we are recapping all of the learned sounds, focusing on blending, reading words and sentences. In writing we have started the half term off with a key story called Dick Whittington. We will end the half term focusing on spelling using different rules. In maths we are focusing on weight, time, fractions and number work. PE will still be on Monday afternoons. Spellings will be stuck into the blue spelling books every Thursday in preparation for our test the following Thursday. Also, the children have an opportunity, if they choose to, every Friday morning to record their spelling score into their blue book on the spelling list relating to that test to show how they are getting on.
