The children are settling in well to the routines and expectations of school, we are very proud of how well they come in from the school gate.
This term our topic is ‘all about me’ where we will be finding out about each other and our school environment. We have already been busy creating self-portraits and drawing family pictures where we have celebrated our similarities and differences. We have also looked at feelings and how to express this effectively. In this topic we will also cover healthy eating and oral health. It would be lovely if you could upload family pictures to Tapestry or send photographs in for the children to share with each other.
We do phonics daily, in our Read Write Inc groups. We have already completed some phase 1 activities and we will shortly begin phase 2 where we will learn the individual letter sounds s,a,t,p,i,n,m,d,g,o,c,k and more. We will then use these sounds to begin reading simple words.
Maths has been very practical so far, as we look to include concepts while the children are involved in play. We will then begin looking at sorting objects according to colour, size, shape etc. Whilst completing these activities we will be embedding further number skills including counting, number recognition and formation.
